1) SELECT a site, preferably in the sun. Gather your materials.
2) PLACE the container on the ground. Adding an inch or so of water can help determine if the container is level.
3) LET the pond sit a few days to allow chlorine to evaporate from city water or oxygen to infiltrate (for oxygen-deficient well water).
4) ADD plants. They may be in pots or planted in a layer of sand in the bottom of the tank.
5) CINDER blocks, bricks, or pots can be used to regulate at what depth your potted plant should be.
6) ADD fish. Place a bag of fish into the pond, adding pond water every few minutes to the bag to help the fish adjust. Release after 30 minutes.
